In her new position, Dr. Marelli will advance research and training initiatives that address circulatory and respiratory research priorities in Canada

Today, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) announced that Dr. Ariane Marelli will be the next scientific director of the CIHR Institute of Circulatory and Respiratory Health for a four-year term, effective April 1, 2024. During her term, this Institute, which is one of CIHR’s thirteen Institutes, will be based at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC).

A senior scientist in the Cardiovascular Health Across the Lifespan Program (CHAL) at the RI‑MUHC and a professor of Medicine and associate member of the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Occupational Health at McGill University, Dr. Marelli is known internationally for her work in congenital heart disease and the development of improved health service delivery models for patients with lifelong health conditions. The entire RI-MUHC and MUHC community is pleased to congratulate her on this well-deserved appointment.
